Now I'll let you in on a little secret. I LIKE those chalky little hearts and I know I can't be the only one because millions are sold every year! Of course I have my favorites in flavor, color, and saying just like everyone else. White (mint) is the tastiest with yellow (banana) being the nastiest. I like bananas but I can't stand banana flavoring - blech! Colors go from favorite first being purple, pink (think pepto bismol), white, yellow, orange, green (bilious). My favorite saying isn't a saying at all. I'm a fan of the happy face. I'm a child of the 70's when the happy face first came into being and it brings back fond memories - well what I can remember of the 70's anyway. You know what I mean, wink wink. I also hunt for the ones that are unreadable. It's always fun trying to figure out what it says. I'm certain some of the things we come up with are a lot racier than the manufacturer would ever allow.
Here is a photo of a recently opened box. Looks like they were having a particularly bad day at the factory. Green in particular lost out. That first one looks like it has a runaway case of acne and the rest are hard to read or have nothing on them at all. Clearly someone was not happy with Mr. Happy Face. I can only think this batch was made on a Monday and there were a few hangovers involved.

Other than the chalk hearts I've never been a fan of Valentine's Day. I mean why do we need a day to celebrate love anyway? Shouldn't love be celebrated every day? Seriously wouldn't you love to be surprised by a box of candy or a dozen roses on a day when it isn't required? Or find a card on the pillow in the middle of the week letting you know how much you're appreciated. I don't know...call me old fashioned, or call me weird (that's a regular occurance) but I don't need a pre-determined day to remind me to tell those around me how much I love them. I do that every day!
